Woman Punishes Her Wife by Cheating

My wife is what you might call a “career woman” and I most definitely am not. I’m a community activist and she’s a business woman but still we complement each other well. We hadn’t been together long when we got married across the Bay in San Francisco last year. It was my idea, but she seemed to be just as enthusiastic as I was.
Gradually she grew more and more distant from me. She wouldn’t tell me what was wrong or anything else. Suddenly I feel like I’m trapped with someone who doesn’t love me. She wouldn’t open up at all and actually slapped me when I suggested that she needs therapy. She does. She’s miserable and she’s taking it out on me.
When I was invited to go up to wine country with another woman, I said yes. I didn’t even tell my wife I was going. I just disappeared for the weekend. The woman I went with was alright but we just didn’t click. There was only one not very intense sexual encounter all weekend. In the middle of it, I thought to myself “I’m cheating on my wife,” but somehow it just didn’t feel wrong to me because in my mind she deserved it.
The worse part is, when I finally got back home, she didn’t even acknowledge that I’d been gone all weekend. She was her usual non-responsive self. Nothing has gotten any better since then. Cheating only made me feel worse and didn’t seem to have any effect on her at all.
