Mysterious Phone Call Arouses Wife’s Suspicions

I was supposed to be out shopping with a friend, but she canceled at the last minute so I just went home after work. I hadn’t let my husband know about my change of plans. My husband was home when I got there. I guess he didn’t hear me come in. I was surprised that he was in the bedroom with the door closed. He usually didn’t hang out in there and normally would never close the door in any case. Maybe I’m just being paranoid because when I heard him talking in there I was sure I was going to open the door and find him with another woman, as unlikely as that would be. All I heard him say was, “I can’t. I can’t.” When I opened the door, he was on the phone. I could tell that I surprised him, though he was trying to seem casual. Strangely, he was on his cell phone even though the house phone is right next to the bed. He told the person he had to go, and quickly hung up. When I asked him who it was, he said it was someone from work. But the insistent tone he was using when he said “I can’t” just didn’t sound the way you’d speak to a coworker. I was afraid of starting a big fight, so I just let it go at the time. But now I can’t stop thinking about it. I don’t know if they really work or not, but I’m considering buying one of these spy gadgets that let’s you check somebody else’s cell phone. I know it’s sneaky but I feel like I’ll loose my mind if I don’t get some answers.
