I’m tired of my boyfriend taking me for granted. Probably I should just dump him, but we’ve been together since our sophomore year in college and the whole thing had gotten to be a habit. He seems to think we were going to get married, that it’s a given, even though there has been no proposal and no ring. He thinks I’m his forever no matter what he does, so he’s not trying at all. His video games mean more to him than I do. Not to mention the fact that my only Christmas present was a $100 gift certificate to Victoria’s Secret. Gee, how thoughtful.
I’d cheated on him before, but that was just a college thing when our relationship was pretty new. I hadn’t cheated in a couple of years, though I was pretty sure he cheated on me around graduation time. He denied it of course but then was a REALLY GOOD boyfriend for a while. Hmmm…
He stayed home playing video games with his friend. I went out with three girlfriends. We were supposed to get dinner but somehow skipped that and just started drinking. I was trashed. They all consider me something of a goody two shoes and just like my boyfriend they all think there’s a wedding to him in my future. Whatever.
I could tell how surprised they were when I started making out with this older guy at the bar. He wasn’t really that good looking but he was funny and he chose me over all my hot friends and I liked him. My friends started telling me that I needed to go home, and that pissed me off. I was wasted and got angry at all of them for not supporting me. The guy and I went outside to smoke. The memory is kind of fuzzy but we ended up in his car. He wanted me to go home with him but a part of me wondered if he might be a serial killer or something. Somehow I ended up giving him a blowjob in the car. That was it. Then I took a taxi home, puked and passed out.
The whole thing seems kind of disgusting to me now but it’s kind of helped me to decide that I have to move on. This is just a college relationship I’m still stuck in. It’s time to move on, have some fun for a while and then find a man who really means something to me.

He’s taking you for granted. I recommend you break it off ASAP, and not prolong the inevitable. From a guy’s perspective, you’re basically convenient female companionship to your boyfriend and visa versa. If you’re going to give some random guy a BJ outside a bar then you probably don’t care much about him. break it off.

You really aren’t ready or deserving of a man who treats you well if you’re more interested in “having fun for a while”.
