Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick Is a Reckless Adulterer

Note to cheating politicians: when you commit adultery, don’t lie about it under oath. In addition, don’t send revealing text messages to your mistress on your government-issued cell phone.
Kwame Kilpatrick, Detroit’s “Hip Hop Mayor,” and Christine Beatty, his former (?) mistress, were charged today with perjury, obstruction of justice and misconduct in office in a 12-count indictment. The most serious charges could get them each 15 years in prison. Separately.
In the text messages that revealed the two both lied under oath when they denied ever having an affair, Beatty suggested they were “busted” after the good mayor’s security detail overheard their noisy lovemaking in a hotel room. To this, Kilpatrick infamously replied, “Damn that. Never busted. Busted is what you see!”
The only remaining question: is this man a poet, a philosopher or both?
Naturally, there were other women, too. The mayor’s legal bills and settlements in whistleblower cases have already cost Detroit taxpayers an estimated $9 million. Perhaps the people of Detroit need that money more than Kwame Kilpatrick needs all those “perks” that come with the mayor’s office?
But that’s not all! The mayor is also accused of using taxpayer money to pay for personal expenses, including, at a North Carolina resort, a two-hour shared couple’s massage! According to the hotel’s website, “The deluxe couples room is sprinkled with rose petals, then you and your significant other will receive a tandem candle-lit Grove Park Inn Spa Massage, followed by an aromatic whirlpool bath. Sip chilled champagne while feeding each other chocolate-covered strawberries.”
Can you really expect such a classy cheater to exist on a mayor’s salary alone?
