Adulterous Office Romance Joins Soulmates

I had assumed my life would always be the same. My marriage sucked and I was pretty unhappy. My husband wasn’t evil. We just weren’t in love and had stopped even pretending we were a long time before. He was the only man I’d ever been with so leaving him wasn’t even conceivable for me.
A man I worked with was one of my favorite people in the world. I looked forward to going to work because he would be there. Never did I consider the possibility that my friendship with him would turn into anything else. He was married, too, and I just didn’t do that kind of thing. He certainly didn’t seem the type to do that kind of thing either.
We’d gotten lunch together many times before, so I wasn’t too surprised when he asked if I wanted to get a “quick dinner” with him one night. I always remember how he said it would be “quick.” That was the only way I was able to justify to myself. Things were great as always with him throughout the dinner. I said I didn’t want dessert, but he insisted and started to seem a little nervous. I almost choked on my “Death by Chocolate” cake when he came right out and told me he was in love with me. It only took me a few seconds to realize that I loved him, too, and to tell him so.
I wish we hadn’t snuck around at all, but we did for a few weeks before each of us told our spouses that we wanted a divorce. It cost Jim a lot of money but he says he doesn’t regret a thing. We moved to the coast last year and everything has been great. I never imagined that my life could be this happy.
